HFCL has reported its best-ever quarterly performance, with consolidated profit after tax rising to ₹394.22 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, as demand for optical fibre cables from artificial intelligence data centres lifted its business. The domestic telecom gear maker disclosed the results in a regulatory filing.
The company’s net profit was around ₹72 crore in the same quarter a year earlier. Consolidated revenue from operations more than doubled year-on-year to ₹2,541.79 crore from ₹1,043.34 crore.
HFCL managing director Mahendra Nahata described the quarter as a defining point in the company’s growth journey. He said the results reflected the increasing scale and momentum of the business and expressed confidence in sustained growth.
The company’s profit after tax margin also expanded sharply, rising to 14.36 per cent from 2.23 per cent on a year-on-year basis. HFCL said the performance was supported by demand across AI infrastructure, hyperscale data centres and telecom networks.
The result points to the growing importance of optical fibre connectivity in the expansion of data-centre capacity. Fibre cables provide the high-speed links required to connect data centres, telecom networks and other digital infrastructure, making cable manufacturing an important part of the physical systems supporting AI services.
HFCL said its order book exceeds ₹28,900 crore, providing what it described as multi-year revenue visibility. The company also said opportunities with international hyperscalers and telecom operators were converting into firm contracts, while additional orders remained at advanced stages.
Based on its current expectations and business visibility, HFCL now expects revenue growth of at least 80 per cent in financial year 2027 over financial year 2026. The company had earlier forecast 80 per cent revenue growth in the current financial year over FY26.
HFCL also expects to reach ₹10,000 crore in revenue ahead of its previously projected FY29 timeline. Nahata said the company’s business momentum could allow it to achieve the milestone much earlier than planned.
To support the expansion, HFCL plans to invest approximately ₹1,800 crore across optical fibre, cable and preform manufacturing. The investment is intended to expand capacity and deepen integration across its manufacturing operations. The company said its advanced optical fibre cable portfolio and data-centre connectivity solutions continued to strengthen during the quarter.
Beyond telecom and data-centre infrastructure, HFCL identified its Defence and Aerospace business as another potential growth engine. Its portfolio includes thermal weapon sights, electronic fuzes, surveillance radars, Multi-Mode Hand Grenades and aerostructures.
The company said the ongoing acquisition of the aerospace business is expected to be completed during the current quarter. HFCL is targeting approximately ₹500 crore in defence revenue in FY27, according to Nahata’s statement.
The next milestones for the company are the planned manufacturing investments, the completion of the aerospace acquisition and the conversion of its advanced order pipeline into firm contracts, as outlined by HFCL.
