Faridabad-Jewar Expressway Toll Plaza Work Accelerates at Mohna

The Faridabad-Jewar Expressway toll plaza at Mohna is expected to be completed within two months, after which toll collection may begin once construction of the expressway is finished. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is building the plaza at the interchange connecting the 31-kilometre greenfield road to the Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal (KGP) Expressway.

The expressway is being developed to connect Faridabad with Noida International Airport in Jewar. Around 24 kilometres of the route falls in Haryana and seven kilometres in Uttar Pradesh. The road begins near Sector 65 in Faridabad, crosses the Yamuna, passes through the Palwal area and enters Uttar Pradesh.

Vehicles entering or exiting the expressway at the Mohna interchange will be charged toll, according to the report. However, NHAI has not yet announced the date on which collection will start or the applicable toll rates. The report said toll collection could begin after both the plaza and the expressway are ready for use.

The Mohna interchange is a key connection point on the route because it will link the new airport road with the KGP Expressway. The tolling arrangement at this location means that charges will apply to vehicles using the expressway through the interchange, although the final fee structure remains to be disclosed by NHAI.

NHAI has also completed several operational features on the road, including street lighting, road markings and signboards. Speed limits have been set at 100 kilometres per hour for smaller vehicles and 80 kilometres per hour for larger and heavy vehicles. Systems to track vehicle speeds have been installed along the expressway, according to the report.

The project also includes a landscaped median and an automated irrigation arrangement. Pipelines and sprinklers have been installed to water the plants in the green belt regularly. The system is intended to support maintenance of the median greenery and reduce the need for repeated manual watering arrangements.

Dheeraj Singh, project director at NHAI, said construction of the toll plaza at the Mohna interchange was progressing rapidly and was targeted for completion within the next two months. He also said pipelines and sprinklers had been installed to improve irrigation for the greenery developed on the expressway divider. NHAI is yet to provide the final toll rates and the confirmed start date for collection.
