Gurugram has allowed the temporary sale and use of CSIR-NEERI-approved green crackers at designated locations after the Supreme Court eased the blanket restriction on firecrackers in Delhi-NCR, with a complete ban scheduled to return from 9 November 2026.
The district administration has temporarily restored the licences of firecracker traders for sales until 6 November. Green crackers may be used only on 7 and 8 November, between 6 am and 7 am and again from 8 pm to 10 pm, according to information provided by a district official.
District Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh said 23 locations had been identified for the sale of green crackers across Gurugram city, Manesar, Sohna, Pataudi, Farrukhnagar and surrounding rural areas. The temporary licences apply only to traders selling crackers approved by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, or CSIR-NEERI.
The designated locations in Gurugram city include the ground near Vatika Chowk in Badshahpur, the open ground in Sector 9, the stadium in Babupur village, the HSVP ground in Sector 5, the Gaushala ground near Mahavir Chowk and Leisure Valley ground in Sector 29. In Manesar, sale has been permitted in front of the tehsil office in Sector 2 of IMT Manesar and near the power house in Garhi Harsaru.
Rural sales locations include the community centres in Chandu and Baghnaki villages. In Sohna, the approved sites are near the toll tax area on village Sancholi panchayat land, near Nimoth Road and opposite the underpass in Ghamroj. The Sohna municipal area has also designated Devi Lal Stadium.
For the Pataudi and Farrukhnagar rural areas, the locations include the sports ground of the government senior secondary school in Bhora Kalan, the sports ground in Hajipur, Mansaram Vatika in Taj Nagar and the gymnasium on Sultanpur Road in Kaliyawas. Pataudi town has designated the Ramlila ground, while the area also includes the ground opposite Peeli Dharamshala at Heli Mandi and the new grain market in Pataudi, subject to Market Committee permission. Farrukhnagar’s approved site is near the community centre on Jhajjar Road.
The district administration said monitoring teams had been formed at district and block levels to oversee compliance. The rules separate the period during which licensed traders may sell green crackers from the much shorter period during which residents may use them. Sales will end on 6 November, permitted use will end on 8 November, and the full prohibition will resume on 9 November, according to the administration’s schedule.
