Greater Noida Unveils New Railway Terminal

Greater Noida is poised for a transformative leap in urban mobility with the upcoming Multimodal Transport Hub (MMTH) at Bodaki.

This ambitious project, spanning approximately 412 acres, is a cornerstone of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) initiative, aimed at bolstering infrastructure and economic growth in the region. At the heart of the MMTH is a state-of-the-art railway terminal, designed to mirror the architectural grandeur of the New Delhi Railway Station. This terminal will feature 13 platforms and is projected to handle around 70 trains daily, including the high-speed Vande Bharat Express. By enhancing rail connectivity between Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal, the station is set to become a pivotal node in India’s railway network.

The project’s estimated cost stands at ₹1,625 crore, with funding orchestrated through a collaboration between the Central Government and the Greater Noida Authority. While the Greater Noida Authority is facilitating land acquisition, the DMIC is overseeing financial investments. The MMTH is envisioned as an integrated transport nexus, seamlessly connecting rail, metro, and bus services. Additional facilities will include coach maintenance yards, water and sewage treatment systems, and commercial spaces, all designed to alleviate congestion at existing hubs like the Delhi Railway Station and Anand Vihar ISBT. The MMTH will be strategically divided into two zones to optimize functionality. Zone 1 will encompass an Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT), local bus terminals, metro services, retail outlets, and other commercial establishments. Zone 2 will house the railway station, hotels, a substantial overbridge, multi-level parking facilities, and additional retail spaces. This zoning aims to streamline both transit operations and commercial activities within the hub.

Beyond transportation, the MMTH is anticipated to be a catalyst for economic development in Greater Noida. By creating numerous employment opportunities and stimulating local businesses, the project aligns with broader goals of sustainable and inclusive urban growth. The integration of green spaces and eco-friendly infrastructure further underscores the commitment to environmental sustainability. As construction progresses, with initial groundwork such as boundary wall development already underway, the MMTH stands as a testament to Greater Noida’s evolution into a modern, connected, and economically vibrant city. This project not only promises to revolutionize travel for residents and visitors but also sets a precedent for future urban infrastructure endeavors across India.
