Ghaziabad Heavy Vehicle Ban Begins November 5 to Ease Festive Traffic

Ghaziabad traffic police will prohibit the entry of heavy vehicles into the city from November 5 to November 12 to reduce congestion during Diwali, Bhai Dooj and other festive gatherings. The vehicles will be diverted from Lalkuan towards Bulandshahr, while additional personnel will be deployed at 24 identified traffic-sensitive locations.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Varun Kumar Singh, said the arrangements were being made in advance to keep traffic moving during the festive period. The police have analysed congestion complaints received through Dial-112 during last year’s festivals and identified locations where traffic pressure is expected to be higher.

The diversion is intended to reduce the movement of heavy vehicles on Ghaziabad’s internal roads, particularly around markets, major junctions and other crowded corridors. Traffic police personnel will monitor these locations and take action if congestion begins to build up.

The traffic plan will be implemented under the supervision of 11 traffic inspectors, with personnel working in two shifts. The deployment will include 128 sub-inspectors, 306 head constables, 356 constables and 23 women head constables and constables. Their responsibilities will include traffic management, monitoring vehicle movement and responding to traffic jams.

The 24 locations identified for special monitoring include Vijay Nagar T-Point, ABES Cut, the Dasna climb on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Lalkuan, Anand Hospital, Opulent Mall, Arya Farm House and Sajan Mor. Other points include Mukherjee Park, Chaudhary Mor, Turab Nagar, Ghanta Ghar, Hapur Tiraha, the new bus stand, the old bus stand, Mohan Nagar, Sector 62 and Chhijarsi.

The police said the deployment would allow traffic to be regulated quickly when vehicle pressure increases at these locations. The plan covers key market areas, intersections and approach routes that connect different parts of the city and neighbouring urban areas.

The traffic police are also coordinating with the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation to prevent buses from adding to congestion at busy points. Discussions have been held with the regional manager of the Kaushambi Roadways Depot regarding bus operations and parking arrangements during the festive period.

Under the arrangement, roadways buses will be positioned in advance at identified hotspots. The coordination is intended to ensure that buses do not remain improperly parked or obstruct traffic when demand for public transport rises during the festivals.

The heavy-vehicle restriction will remain in force in Ghaziabad from November 5 through November 12. During this period, vehicles covered by the restriction will be diverted at Lalkuan towards Bulandshahr, while traffic police will continue monitoring the 24 designated locations in two shifts.
