The Faridabad Municipal Corporation has prepared a plan to build four neighbourhood service centres in key sectors, with construction targeted to begin this month and a total estimated cost of ₹51.63 lakh.
The centres are intended to help residents access government schemes and municipal services closer to home instead of travelling to offices in other parts of the city. The planned locations include the community centre in Sector 8, the ward office in Sector 7, and the waterworks premises serving Sectors 14 and 15A.
Two of the facilities will be located in Sector 7 and Sector 8, both within Ward Number 34 in the Old Faridabad area. The other two will be established in the waterworks premises in Sector 14 and Sector 15A, covering residents in Ward Number 32.
According to the municipal plan, ₹25.81 lakh has been earmarked for the centres at the Sector 7 ward office and the Sector 8 community centre. A further ₹25.82 lakh has been allocated for the two facilities at the Sector 14 and Sector 15A waterworks premises.
The civic body has set a completion period of seven months and 20 days after construction begins. Its stated objective is to complete the work within the scheduled period and make the centres operational for residents.
The proposed facilities are expected to be particularly useful for older residents, women and others who face difficulty travelling repeatedly to distant offices for municipal or government-related work. The corporation said that locating the centres within residential areas would reduce the time and travel costs involved in accessing services.
The plan also indicates that the centres are intended to function as access points for more than just municipal paperwork, with residents expected to receive assistance related to various government schemes and local-body services. The specific range of services to be provided at each centre has not been detailed in the report.
Sanjeev Kumar, executive engineer with the Municipal Corporation, said the construction of all four service centres is targeted to start this month. The next formal milestone is the commencement of construction at the four identified locations.
