CIDCO Employee Promotions Move Ahead as Navi Mumbai Demands Gain Approval

CIDCO employee promotions, recruitment and other long-pending staff demands have received movement under new managing director Ashwin Mudgal, according to a report by Loksatta – Navi Mumbai. The decisions include promotions for 13 area officers, progress on time-bound promotions and recruitment for vacant posts across various cadres.

The developments were communicated to employees at a gate meeting held outside CIDCO Bhavan in Belapur on Friday, September 11, by representatives of the CIDCO Employees’ Union. The union said the management had also approved the resumption of an employee felicitation event that had not been held for the past two years.

The promotions for 13 area officers to the post of assistant development officer mark one of the key decisions taken during Mudgal’s tenure as CIDCO managing director, the report said. Processes for promotions in other cadres and time-bound promotions have also been initiated.

CIDCO has simultaneously accelerated recruitment for vacant positions in different cadres, according to the report. The staffing decisions are significant for an organisation responsible for planning and developing large parts of Navi Mumbai and other urban development areas, although the report did not specify the number of vacancies or the recruitment timetable.

The management has also implemented Part II of the Pakshi Committee recommendations for stenographer posts. Employees covered by the decision are expected to receive the associated financial benefit in their upcoming salaries, the report said. The source did not provide details of the number of employees affected or the total financial impact.

The employee union also informed staff that CIDCO had approved a felicitation ceremony for the children of employees who passed Classes 10 and 12. The event had been pending for three years and is now expected to be organised in the presence of family members.

The reported decisions represent a shift in the handling of employee-related matters under the new managing director. The report said that employees and union representatives had previously faced difficulty meeting the earlier managing director. The latest approvals have therefore been received positively by CIDCO employees, according to the union representatives who addressed the Belapur meeting.

The next steps are the implementation of the approved promotion and recruitment processes, the inclusion of the stenographer-related financial benefits in salaries, and the scheduling of the employee felicitation ceremony. The report did not state specific dates for these actions.
