Faridabad Railway Station Restores Trains After 45-Day Block

All EMU services and express trains affected by construction at Faridabad railway station have resumed operations after a 45-day block, restoring daily connectivity for passengers travelling between Palwal, Faridabad, Delhi and other destinations. However, trains will continue to face platform restrictions while redevelopment work remains underway.

Railway officials said the nine EMU services operating between Palwal and New Delhi that had been suspended during the construction period have been restarted. The affected services include the Shahdara–Ballabhgarh and Ballabhgarh–Shahdara shuttles, Ghaziabad–Palwal, Palwal–Shahdara, New Delhi–Palwal, Palwal–Ghaziabad and Shahdara–Palwal services. The resumption comes ahead of the festive season, when demand for rail travel typically increases.

The railway station, also known as Old Faridabad railway station, is being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 242 crore. Construction has been completed on building structures on both the NIT-side and National Highway-side of the station, according to the report. The next stages include connecting the two buildings and placing girders for a foot overbridge.

Work linked to these activities required foundations for pillars at different locations on platforms 2 and 3. As a result, those platforms will continue to remain unavailable for train halts for some more days, even though the wider train block has ended. Passengers will therefore see a restoration of services without a complete return to the station’s earlier platform arrangement.

The stoppage of express-train halts had affected 19 trains passing through or serving Old Faridabad station. Railway officials said halts have now been restored for several services, including the Malwa Express, Grand Trunk Express, Ujjaini Express, Indore–Dehradun Express, Puri–Yog Nagari Rishikesh Express, Kerala Superfast Express, Nanded–Firozpur Express and Pune–Jammu Tawi Express on services towards Delhi.

Halt restoration has also been announced for trains travelling towards Mathura, including the Punjab Mail, Kota Weekly Express, Amritsar–Indore Express, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Jabalpur Express, Andaman Express, Himsagar Express, Kurukshetra–Khajuraho Express, Haridwar–Bandra Terminus Express, Malwa Express, Firozpur–Nanded Express and Una Himachal–Indore Express. The train numbers listed for the restored services include 12919, 12615, 14309, 14317, 18477, 12625, 14621, 11077, 12138, 20986, 19326, 11450, 16032, 16318, 11842, 19020, 22918, 12920, 14622 and 19308.

The reopening of services removes the immediate disruption caused by the construction block, but the ongoing work on platforms 2 and 3 means passengers will still need to check station announcements and platform information before travelling. Railway officials have not indicated in the supplied report when the remaining platform changes will be completed.
