Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), will make its global debut at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin, as the company seeks international opportunities in metro operations, maintenance and urban transport consultancy.
DMIL will use the biennial rail transport trade fair to present DMRC’s operational and engineering experience and engage with transit authorities, infrastructure companies, technology providers, operators and other mobility-sector stakeholders. The event is scheduled to take place in Berlin and is described as the world’s largest trade fair focused on the rail transport industry.
Anuj Dayal, principal executive director for corporate communications at DMRC, said DMIL’s participation would allow the company to demonstrate capabilities in operations and maintenance, consultancy, project management and advisory services. The company also plans to explore partnerships and new business opportunities with organisations involved in urban transportation.
Sanjay Jamuaar, chief executive officer of DMIL, said InnoTrans 2026 would provide an important platform to showcase the expertise of DMRC and DMIL to an international audience. He said the company intended to connect with transit authorities, infrastructure partners and mobility-sector leaders while taking its engineering expertise and operational experience to international markets.
According to DMIL, cities worldwide are seeking integrated and resilient mobility systems as public transport networks expand and travel requirements change. The company said it also wanted to learn from international practices and contribute to the development of efficient and sustainable urban transport systems through partnerships.
The international expansion effort is being built on the scale of Delhi Metro’s existing operations. DMRC currently oversees a network of more than 416 kilometres and over 300 stations, carrying approximately 6.5 million passengers a day, according to the information released about DMIL’s plans.
DMIL said it had participated in five international tenders during the previous three months. It is examining opportunities in West Asia and selected European markets, while assessing potential opportunities in North America at a later stage. Africa is also among the markets under consideration, with the company indicating that it could explore opportunities there with local firms and support from the Government of India.
The company’s planned presence at InnoTrans comes as the 2026 edition focuses on technologies shaping the rail sector, including autonomous public transport, cyber security, robotics, 3D printing and artificial intelligence. DMIL is expected to use the platform to present its experience in metro and urban transport solutions and pursue cooperation for transit projects in different international markets.
