Delhi NCR witnessed widespread disruption on Thursday morning after persistent monsoon showers inundated several roads across the national capital and Gurugram, slowing traffic, affecting daily commutes and once again drawing attention to the resilience of urban infrastructure during the rainy season. The weather event offered relief from prolonged humidity but simultaneously exposed recurring weaknesses in stormwater management across rapidly expanding urban corridors.
The impact was visible across multiple parts of the region as low-lying stretches accumulated rainwater, creating bottlenecks during peak office hours. In eastern Delhi, waterlogged carriageways reduced road capacity, forcing motorists to navigate flooded sections at reduced speeds while pedestrians and two-wheeler users faced greater mobility challenges.
