Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is on the brink of a significant milestone as the first station of its Phase-IV corridor nears completion, with a projected opening slated for July or August pending approval from the commissioner of metro railway safety.
The Krishna Park Extension station, situated along the Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg metro corridor, is nearing the final stages of construction, marking a significant advancement in the expansion of Delhi’s metro network. This corridor, an extension of the Magenta Line, spans approximately 2.5 kilometres, with the underground Krishna Park Extension Station poised to become operational upon receiving the requisite safety clearances.
Krishna Park Extension stands as the solitary station within this underground stretch, which forms part of the larger Janakpuri West to RK Ashram corridor expected to be fully operational by 2026. Comprising a total of 22 stations, including eight interchange stations, such as Janakpuri West, Peeragarhi, and Azadpur, this corridor is poised to enhance connectivity across the city.
Azadpur, in particular, is positioned to become the second triple interchange station upon the operationalization of the RK Ashram–Janakpuri West corridor, further facilitating seamless transfers between the Yellow and Pink Lines.
Upon its completion, the Janakpuri West-RK Ashram corridor, spanning 29.3 kilometres, will integrate with the existing Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden route, expanding Delhi’s metro network and enhancing accessibility for commuters across the city.
DMRC’s commitment to infrastructure expansion is evident in its concurrent construction of three priority corridors, including the Majlis Park to Maujpur and Aerocity to Tughlaqabad lines, slated for completion by 2025 and 2026, respectively.
Furthermore, recent approvals by the union cabinet for additional corridors under Phase IV, such as Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block and Inderlok to Indraprastha extensions, underscore Delhi Metro’s ongoing efforts to bolster urban mobility and address growing commuter needs.
As Delhi’s metro network continues to evolve, these developments herald a new era of connectivity and accessibility for residents and commuters alike, cementing the capital’s position as a pioneer in sustainable urban transportation.
