Delhi Metro Posters Trigger Fresh FIR at Airport Express Station

Delhi Metro police have registered a fresh case after posters were found near emergency gate number five and black-ink writing was discovered on a shaft wall at Shivaji Stadium station on the Airport Express Line.

The incident took place on October 24, according to a report by Live Hindustan – NCR. Police found posters pasted on a wall near emergency gate number five, while writing in black ink was found on the wall of a shaft near gate number seven.

The Indira Gandhi International Airport Metro Police registered a case against an unidentified person under the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act and the Metro Railway Act. Police are investigating the incident.

The case follows another episode reported days earlier, when two posters were found inside a train operating on the Airport Express Line. According to the police complaint cited in the report, a train operator noticed one of the posters on a seat after the train reached Yashobhoomi station from New Delhi. The operator was inspecting the train at the time.

The earlier posters were printed in black and white on A4-sized sheets. They raised several issues and included QR codes inviting readers to join an online group. One poster carried the title “Dissatisfied? You are not alone” and listed nine claims about changes that had taken place in the country in recent years. The other called for collective participation and community building.

The posters from the train were removed and handed over to the police. A separate case was then registered against unidentified persons. Police sources had said that the Special Cell was also involved in the investigation into that earlier incident.

The latest case concerns material found on station property rather than inside a train. Under the sections cited in the report, the investigation will address both alleged defacement of public property and an offence involving metro railway premises. The report does not identify any suspect or state whether arrests have been made.

The incidents place security, surveillance and maintenance of passenger-facing spaces on the operational agenda of the Airport Express Line. Station walls, emergency access areas, shafts and train interiors are part of the transport system used by commuters and airport travellers, making the police response relevant to the management of public infrastructure as well as the investigation itself.

Police are continuing their inquiry into the station posters and wall writing. The source report does not provide a further deadline or announce the next investigative step.
