Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL), the wholly owned subsidiary of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), will make its international debut at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin as it seeks overseas opportunities in metro operations, maintenance and consultancy.
DMIL will showcase its capabilities at the rail transport trade fair across operations and maintenance, consultancy, project management and advisory services. The event will also provide the company an opportunity to engage with transit authorities, infrastructure companies, technology providers, operators and other mobility stakeholders.
InnoTrans is held every two years in Berlin, Germany, and is described as the world’s largest trade fair focused on the rail transport industry. DMIL’s participation places Delhi Metro’s operational and engineering experience before an international audience at a time when the company is beginning to pursue business beyond India.
Sanjay Jamuar, chief executive officer of DMIL, said the company sees an opportunity to take its engineering expertise and real-world operational experience to international markets. He said DMIL aims to build collaborations, learn from global best practices and contribute to efficient and sustainable urban transport systems.
The company has already submitted five international bids in the last three months, according to Anuj Dayal, principal executive director at DMRC. The bids form the initial phase of DMIL’s international business expansion and cover opportunities that the company is pursuing outside its home network.
DMIL is exploring opportunities in West Asia and select European markets, while evaluating North American opportunities over time, Dayal said. Africa is also on the company’s watch list, with potential opportunities to be pursued through partnerships with local companies and the Union government.
The expansion reflects a broader commercial role for a metro agency whose experience has primarily been associated with operating and developing Delhi’s urban rail system. Through DMIL, that experience is being packaged as services for other transit systems and infrastructure stakeholders, including operational support, project management and technical advisory work.
The company’s international push will depend on the partnerships and bids now being developed, while its immediate public milestone is its participation at InnoTrans in Berlin. DMIL is expected to use the event to present its capabilities and explore further collaborations across the global urban transport ecosystem.
