Bengaluru traffic movement around Veerapillai Road has been temporarily diverted until September 27 following the installation of a Ganesha idol within the Shivajinagar traffic police station limits, according to a report by Prajavani. The changes affect vehicles using Veerapillai Road and the stretch from Vitthoba Temple towards Nagamma Temple.
All types of vehicles have been temporarily restricted from travelling on Veerapillai Road and from Vitthoba Temple towards Nagamma Temple. The diversion is in force for the duration specified by the traffic authorities in connection with the installation.
Vehicles travelling from Dickinson Junction towards Pulakeshinagar and Banaswadi, excluding heavy goods vehicles, have been directed to continue straight on Kamaraj Road. They must then take a right turn near Sangam Cross Road and a left turn into St John’s Road before proceeding towards Pulakeshinagar and Banaswadi.
A separate diversion applies to vehicles travelling from Alice Junction towards Pulakeshinagar and Banaswadi. These vehicles have been directed to proceed straight through Dickinson Road, take a left turn near Blue-Stone and then use St John’s Road to reach the two destinations.
The restrictions also include a parking ban. Parking of all types of vehicles has been prohibited on St John’s Road, Kamaraj Road and Veerapillai Road during the period of the traffic arrangement. This means that motorists using the designated alternative routes will also need to keep the affected road space clear for moving traffic.
The diversion places St John’s Road and Kamaraj Road within the temporary traffic-management network for vehicles that would otherwise use Veerapillai Road. The arrangement also distinguishes heavy goods vehicles from other traffic on the Dickinson Junction-Kamaraj Road route: such vehicles are excluded from the permitted diversion described for traffic heading towards Pulakeshinagar and Banaswadi.
The affected roads connect key junctions and neighbourhood directions in the Shivajinagar area, making the notice relevant to motorists travelling between Dickinson Junction, Alice Junction, Pulakeshinagar and Banaswadi. Drivers approaching the restricted stretch will need to follow the specified turns rather than continue towards Veerapillai Road or the route from Vitthoba Temple to Nagamma Temple.
According to the published traffic notice, the temporary restrictions and parking controls will remain in place until September 27. Motorists using the area during this period should follow on-ground traffic instructions and the designated routes through Kamaraj Road, Dickinson Road and St John’s Road.
