Bengaluru will impose traffic diversions across several central-city roads from 4 am to 11 am on September 27 for the 13th edition of the Bengaluru Marathon, which is expected to draw around 25,000 participants.
The restrictions will apply within the jurisdiction of the Halasuru Gate Traffic Police Station. Roads listed for diversions include Kasturba Road between Hudson Junction and Queens Junction, MG Road between Queens Junction and Mayo Hall Junction, and both sides of Queens Road between Queens Junction and CTO Junction.
Traffic movement will also be affected on Lok Bhavan Road between CTO Junction and Police Thimmaiah Circle, BR Ambedkar Road between Police Thimmaiah Junction and KR Circle, and Cubbon Road between CTO Junction and Manipal Junction. Other affected stretches include Dickenson Road between Halasuru Junction and Dickenson Road, Ajanta Road between Sri Circle and RBI Junction, and St John Road between Naga Junction and Sri Circle.
Vehicles travelling from JC Road towards Vidhana Soudha, Shivajinagar and Raj Bhavan Road have been directed to use Police Corner, KG Road, Old Post Office Road and KR Circle before proceeding along the western side of Ambedkar Road.
Vehicles travelling from Queens Road and Shivajinagar towards the market area and Majestic can use the route through Balekundri Circle, Cunningham Road, Chandrika Junction, LRDE Junction and Basaveshwara Circle.
Marathon participants will be allowed to park at UB City, Freedom Park, St Joseph’s College grounds, Garuda Mall and MG Mall. The temporary arrangements are intended to manage vehicle movement around the marathon route during the event period.
The diversions will remain in force from the early morning start of the event until 11 am on September 27, according to the traffic advisory reported by Prajavani.
