Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (Mahavitaran) has completed the process of providing new electricity connections to 413 applicants in Badlapur over the past two weeks under its Seva Setu and Seva Sankalp campaigns, according to company officials. The connections were issued after residents submitted applications for electricity supply and the required processing was completed on priority.
The campaign is being conducted by Mahavitaran’s Kalyan Circle to bring electricity-related services closer to consumers. Information stalls have been set up in Badlapur and Murbad to explain the utility’s schemes and assist consumers with service-related requests.
During the same 15-day period, Mahavitaran officials corrected electricity bills for 207 consumers in the Badlapur East subdivision and 181 consumers in the Badlapur West subdivision. The utility also received 129 complaints related to smart meters. Of these, 62 complaints in the East subdivision and 39 in the West subdivision were reported as resolved.
Nineteen electricity consumers also expressed interest in the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar scheme, according to information provided by Mahavitaran officials. The scheme was among the programmes being explained through the campaign stalls.
Murbad BJP MLA Kisan Kathore visited a campaign stall in the Murbad area. Former Murbad Nagar Panchayat president Mohan Sase, Santosh Pawar and junior engineer Sachin Dhanawade were also present, the report said.
Kathore said Murbad is predominantly rural and that many residents are farmers. He said visiting villages to address electricity complaints could reduce the need for residents to repeatedly visit government offices. He also said that providing information about new meters and electricity bills, and resolving complaints locally, could improve coordination between consumers and Mahavitaran officials.
Mahavitaran officials have also established information stalls at government offices in Kalyan, Badlapur, Ulhasnagar and Ambernath. Superintendent engineer Vijay Phunde and executive engineers Anand Katkar, Rajendra Bhambare and Harish Bharade appealed to consumers to visit the stalls for information about the utility’s schemes and services.
