Ahmedabad-Rajgir Special Train Adds Diwali Travel Relief

Western Railway will operate an unreserved weekly superfast special train between Ahmedabad and Rajgir during the Diwali and Chhath Puja travel period, adding a temporary rail service for passengers travelling between Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Train 09441 will depart from Ahmedabad at 11:55 pm on November 4 and November 11, 2026. The return service, Train 09442, will leave Rajgir at 9:55 am on November 6 and November 13. The two services together will make four trips.

The train will operate with special fares and will be completely unreserved. Passengers will therefore not have reserved berths or seats assigned in advance. Western Railway said the service has been arranged for passenger convenience and to address additional demand during the festival period.

In the Ahmedabad-Rajgir direction, the train will stop at Anand, Chhayapuri, Godhra, Dahod, Ratlam, Bhawani Mandi, Ramganj Mandi, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Hindaun City, Bayana, Idgah Agra, Tundla, Subedarganj, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, Buxar, Ara, Danapur, Patna, Patna Sahib, Bakhtiyarpur, Bihar Sharif and Nalanda, according to the announcement reported by Gujarat Samachar – Ahmedabad.

The service connects Ahmedabad with Rajgir through several major railway locations in western, northern and eastern India. Its stops include key stations serving the Kota region, the Agra area, eastern Uttar Pradesh, the Buxar and Ara corridor, Patna and the Nalanda-Rajgir area.

The unreserved arrangement is significant for passengers travelling during a period when demand typically rises around major festivals, although the source announcement does not provide the train’s coach composition, fare table or passenger-capacity details. The announcement also does not specify whether the service will operate beyond the four scheduled trips.

Passengers seeking detailed information on stoppages, timings and coach composition have been directed to the Indian Railways website at www.enquiry.indianrail.gov.in. The scheduled departures are November 4 and 11 from Ahmedabad, followed by return departures from Rajgir on November 6 and 13.
