Ahmedabad AMC Bonus: 16,800 Class-4 Workers to Get Rs 7,000

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will pay a bonus of up to Rs 7,000 to around 16,800 Class-4 employees for 2025-26, with the civic body expected to spend approximately Rs 12 crore on the payment. The decision was taken on November 3, a day after the Gujarat government announced a similar ad hoc bonus for Class-4 employees.

The bonus will not be automatic for every worker. Employees must have worked continuously for at least six months during 2025-26 to qualify. The civic decision also links the payment to the number of days worked during the year, meaning the final amount may vary according to an employee’s eligible service period.

Daily-wage workers will have to meet a separate attendance requirement. They must have worked for at least 240 days during the year, equivalent to eight months, to qualify for the bonus. The payment for eligible daily-wage employees will also be calculated on the basis of the number of days they worked.

The conditions further provide for deductions where an employee was suspended for part of the year. The period of suspension will be excluded while calculating the eligible working days, and the bonus will be paid according to the remaining qualifying service period.

Part-time employees may also receive the benefit if they are among those who receive an annual increment. This provision extends the bonus decision beyond regular Class-4 employees, while retaining service and employment-related conditions for determining eligibility.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s decision follows the state government’s announcement on November 2 of an ad hoc bonus of up to Rs 7,000 for Class-4 employees. The civic body’s move therefore brings the municipal workforce under a similar bonus arrangement, subject to the eligibility rules set for continuous service, daily-wage attendance, suspension periods and qualifying part-time employment.

The reported Rs 12-crore expenditure represents the municipal corporation’s financial commitment to implementing the decision for the approximately 16,800 employees covered by the announcement. The supplied report does not specify the date on which the bonus will be credited or the administrative schedule for processing individual payments.
