Ahmedabad: Western Railway has extended the operation of the Ahmedabad–Patna Special Train to accommodate sustained passenger demand during the busy travel season, offering additional capacity on one of the key long-distance rail corridors connecting western and eastern India. The extension is expected to ease pressure on regular services while improving travel options for passengers.
Under the revised schedule, Train No. 09447 Ahmedabad–Patna Weekly Special will continue operating until 15 July 2026, while the return service, Train No. 09448 Patna–Ahmedabad Weekly Special, has been extended until 17 July 2026. Reservation for the additional trips has already commenced through railway reservation counters and the Indian Railways online booking platform. The extension reflects Indian Railways’ strategy of deploying special services during periods of elevated passenger demand rather than relying solely on permanent timetable changes. Seasonal trains play an important role in managing travel peaks associated with festivals, holidays, educational movement and labour migration between major urban centres. The Ahmedabad–Patna Special Train serves a corridor that witnesses significant movement of workers, students, business travellers and families between Gujarat and Bihar.
