Ahmedabad Metro to Run Till 2 am During Navratri on 3 Routes

Ahmedabad Metro will run until 2 am from 14 October to 19 October to help Navratri revellers and other passengers travel home after late-night events, according to the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC). The extended service will operate on selected corridors, with trains running at intervals of 30 or 60 minutes depending on the route.

Ahmedabad Metro’s regular operating hours are currently from 6.20 am to 11 pm. For the six-day Navratri period, the service will continue for an additional three hours after the usual closing time, allowing passengers to use public transport after attending garba events and other festival activities.

GMRC’s schedule covers the Vastral Gam–Thaltej Gam corridor, the APMC–Koteshwar Road corridor and the APMC–Sector 1 corridor. Trains between Vastral Gam and Thaltej Gam will operate every 30 minutes. The APMC–Koteshwar Road service will also run at 30-minute intervals, while trains between APMC and Sector 1 will operate every 60 minutes.

Passengers using the extended late-night service will be able to purchase a special paper ticket priced at Rs 50. The ticket will be available at metro stations during the extended operating hours and can be used by one passenger for a single journey, according to the information released by GMRC.

The additional service is intended to provide a public transport option for people returning from late-night garba programmes. The timing also covers passengers travelling after the regular 11 pm service has ended, when the available public transport choices may be more limited.

The decision places the metro within Ahmedabad’s wider festival mobility network, where concentrated late-night travel demand can affect roads and private vehicle movement. By extending services on the three listed corridors rather than across the entire network, GMRC has specified the routes and frequencies that will be available during the Navratri period.

The extended schedule will remain in force from 14 October through 19 October. Passengers will need to check the applicable corridor and purchase the Rs 50 special paper ticket at the station before using the late-night service.
