Ghaziabad Police Outpost Blast Injures One, Security Probe Expands

A blast near the boundary wall of the Vasundhara police outpost in Ghaziabad injured a food delivery worker and prompted a multi-agency security investigation, with police examining forensic evidence, CCTV footage and a social media claim of responsibility.

The explosion occurred late on Friday night at the outpost under the Indirapuram police station, damaging window panes. Police said the injured person, identified as Vishal, was present at the outpost when the blast took place and sustained minor injuries.

The Anti-Terrorist Squad and bomb disposal teams were sent to the site after the incident. The outpost was cordoned off to allow police and other security agencies to conduct inspections and collect evidence. Forensic teams gathered samples from the location and sent them to a laboratory in Agra for examination.

Police are also verifying a social media post by an organisation identified as “Tehrik Ul Mujahideen”, which has claimed responsibility for the explosion. Authorities have not established the authenticity of the post or confirmed a motive. Police said the intensity and cause of the blast were still being examined.

Ghaziabad Police Commissioner J Ravindra Gaur visited the site along with other officers. He said investigators were looking into all possible angles. “The ongoing investigation will include all facts and will form the basis of the findings,” Gaur told the media after visiting the location.

The probe is expected to examine the material involved in the explosion, the circumstances under which it occurred and whether anyone entered or approached the outpost before the incident. CCTV footage from the area is being checked to identify the accused, police said.

The incident has temporarily turned a functioning police facility in Vasundhara into a secured investigation zone, while the agencies involved determine whether the blast was an isolated act or connected to a wider security threat. Police have indicated that a possible terrorist angle will form part of the investigation, but no conclusion has yet been announced.

The next steps include analysis of the samples sent to Agra, review of CCTV footage and verification of the social media claim. Police said the findings would be based on the evidence collected during the ongoing investigation.
