Indiramma Houses Promised for SDRF Personnel After Bethupalli Rescue

The Telangana government will sanction Indiramma houses to eligible State Disaster Response Force personnel who took part in rescue operations at Bethupalli tank in Sathupalli, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said at a review meeting in the district on Thursday. The housing support will apply to personnel who do not already own a house.

The Minister directed the Collectors of Khammam and Kothagudem to identify SDRF and other response personnel involved in the operation who meet the housing eligibility condition. The Collectors have been asked to prepare and submit a list of eligible individuals so that the government can initiate a special programme for sanctioning the houses.

The announcement follows rescue operations at Bethupalli tank during the recent cyclonic rains. According to the Minister, the SDRF and National Disaster Response Force personnel worked continuously during the operation. He also credited officials and staff from various departments with helping complete the rescue effort without loss of life.

The housing decision links a disaster-response deployment with the state’s Indiramma housing programme, but the announcement did not specify the number of personnel who may qualify, the number of houses to be sanctioned, the construction or allotment timeline, or the estimated financial outlay. The final list will depend on the eligibility assessment and verification of housing ownership directed by the government.

At the same meeting, Srinivas Reddy directed the Collectors of Khammam and Kothagudem to assess crop and infrastructure damage caused by the cyclonic rains over the past few days. The assessments are to be treated as a disaster-related event, and detailed estimates must be submitted to the government within two to three days.

The Minister instructed the district administrations to conduct on-site inspections before preparing the reports. The exercise is expected to cover agricultural losses as well as damage to infrastructure in the two districts. The supplied report does not specify the affected infrastructure assets, the extent of damage, or the relief and restoration amount that may be sought after the estimates are submitted.

For the housing proposal, the immediate administrative steps are the identification of participating personnel, verification of whether they own a home, and submission of the eligible list by the two district administrations. For the rain-related losses, the next milestone is the completion of field inspections and submission of the detailed crop and infrastructure estimates within the directed two-to-three-day window.
