Delhi School Student Dies After Classroom Collapse; Police Probe Delay Claims

A nine-year-old student of Lovely Heritage School in Mayur Vihar Phase-II, Delhi, died on Wednesday morning after collapsing in her classroom. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death and allegations by her family that medical assistance was delayed.

The child, Unnati Bharti, was a Class III student. According to school authorities, she collapsed around 9:08 am toward the end of a games period after returning to her classroom. A teacher found her unresponsive and called for help, but she did not regain consciousness.

CCTV footage reviewed by police shows Unnati entering the classroom holding one hand over her waist before collapsing minutes later. The family questioned why she was first taken to Bimla Devi Hospital then to Malik Radix Healthcare instead of nearby hospitals. The school said it immediately took her to the nearest hospital, where doctors referred her to a better-equipped facility.

A police official said statements have been recorded from the family and school authorities, and investigations, including examination of CCTV footage, are ongoing. The cause of death is not yet confirmed and the postmortem report is awaited.

The principal denied any delay in medical care. No case has been registered at this stage.
