Adani CNG Price Hike Pushes Gujarat Rate Above ₹100

Adani CNG prices in Gujarat have risen by ₹2.30 per kg, taking the new rate to ₹100.77 from ₹98.47 and marking the second increase in 13 days, according to a report by Divya Bhaskar – Ahmedabad. The latest hike comes shortly before Diwali and is expected to raise operating costs for daily commuters and auto-rickshaw drivers.

The previous increase was reported on October 23, when Adani CNG prices were raised by ₹4.45 per kg. With the latest revision, the two increases together have added ₹6.75 per kg to the reported CNG price in less than two weeks.

CNG is widely used by auto-rickshaws and other urban passenger vehicles. For drivers who depend on daily trips for their income, a higher fuel price increases the cost of every working day unless the additional expense is recovered through higher fares or reduced margins. The report said the latest increase would directly affect ordinary citizens, daily commuters and rickshaw drivers during the festival period.

The report did not specify an official reason for the latest price revision. It separately cited Adani Total Gas’ second-quarter results, according to which the company recorded a profit of ₹173 crore, compared with ₹163 crore in the same period a year earlier. That represents an increase of about 5.9 per cent.

The company’s revenue also rose by 34 per cent to ₹2,109 crore from ₹1,576 crore in the corresponding period last year. The report attributed the growth in earnings to increased demand for CNG and PNG used for household cooking.

The price change places fuel costs at the centre of the urban affordability question in Gujarat. Auto-rickshaw operators and other CNG-dependent drivers face the immediate impact, while passengers may encounter pressure for fare revisions if the higher fuel expense continues. The available report does not state whether any fare change has been announced by local authorities or transport associations.

For commuters, the immediate change is the revised pump price of ₹100.77 per kg. The next confirmed development will be any response from transport operators, passenger groups or the relevant authorities regarding fares and the effect of the increase on urban travel costs.
