Drought relief for farmers in Nanded will be credited without loan recovery or other deductions, following directions issued by the district administration to all banks in the district. Eligible farmers across all 16 talukas are to receive ₹5,000 each as advance assistance for the 2026 kharif season, according to a report by Sakal – Pune.
The advance payment is being released under a Maharashtra government decision taken against the backdrop of drought conditions during the current kharif season. The assistance is intended to provide immediate financial support to affected farmers and help them meet agricultural and household expenses.
The district administration has told banks not to recover any outstanding loan amount from the assistance credited to eligible farmers’ accounts. Banks have also been instructed not to make any other deduction from the ₹5,000 payment. The direction is intended to ensure that the full relief amount reaches the beneficiaries for whom it has been sanctioned.
The administration said the assistance must be made available in its entirety because it is being provided as support during a drought situation. The instruction applies to all banks operating in the district, and officials have asked them to take the directive seriously and implement it.
The order places banks at the operational centre of the relief process. While the government decision determines the assistance and the eligible beneficiaries, the banks handling the accounts will determine whether the credited amount remains available to farmers without an offset against existing liabilities. The district administration’s instruction therefore addresses the final stage between the sanction of relief and its use by households.
For farmers facing drought-related pressure during the kharif season, the protection from deductions means the announced assistance is to function as direct support rather than as a payment that can be absorbed into loan recovery. The report does not provide the total number of eligible farmers, the overall financial allocation, or the date by which all credits will be completed.
The district administration has directed all banks in Nanded to follow the instructions and ensure that eligible farmers receive the advance drought assistance without any recovery or deduction. The implementation of these directions will determine whether the full ₹5,000 reaches each qualifying account.
