Haryana Clears Rs 219.9 Crore Civic Projects After Rs 18.8 Crore Saving

Haryana’s High-Powered Works Purchase Committee has approved 11 civic infrastructure projects worth Rs 219.9 crore after negotiations reduced the quoted cost by Rs 18.8 crore, with the works covering municipal solid waste, roads, water supply, sewerage, drainage, street lighting and parks across the state.

The committee, chaired by chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, considered 13 proposals at its latest meeting and deferred two, according to a report by the Times of India. The approved projects have a combined quoted value of Rs 233.6 crore, while the negotiated approvals were finalised at Rs 219.9 crore.

The largest waste-management approvals include Rs 38.7 crore for municipal solid waste processing in Gurugram and Rs 18.7 crore for processing daily-generated municipal waste in the Narnaul cluster. The Narnaul project will cover Narnaul, Mahendragarh, Kanina, Nangal Chaudhary and Ateli Mandi.

The committee also approved a solid waste processing project at Partapgarh village in Faridabad at a negotiated cost of Rs 17.1 crore. Together, the approvals place waste processing among the most significant components of the package, alongside local roads and basic municipal services.

In Faridabad, Rs 17.7 crore was cleared for augmenting water supply, sewerage, drainage and street lighting in Sihi village, Ward 39. Similar works in Bhudena village, Ward 35, were approved at Rs 13.8 crore. The committee also cleared construction of a new office building for the Faridabad Municipal Corporation at Ballabgarh.

Other approvals include Rs 17.9 crore for a banquet hall in Ward 20 of the Panipat Municipal Corporation and Rs 9.2 crore for a model road from Agra Chowk to the end of Shardhanand Park on both sides in Palwal. In Sirsa, Rs 13.2 crore was sanctioned for rebuilding and repairing road carpeting damaged during the laying of a stormwater drainage system.

The meeting also approved a project to shift milk dairies in Hisar, as well as works to upgrade, repair and maintain green belts and parks. The parks-related works will include facilities in newly approved colonies and provisions for persons with special abilities, the report said.

The approvals bring together projects that affect both core municipal networks and the everyday public realm. Waste processing capacity, drainage restoration, road repairs, water and sewerage augmentation, street lighting and park maintenance are being taken up through separate local works across Gurugram, Faridabad, Narnaul, Panipat, Palwal, Sirsa and Hisar.

Saini directed the departments concerned and executing agencies to complete the projects within the stipulated timelines without compromising on quality. The next official milestone is the execution of the approved works by the relevant departments and agencies according to the timelines set for each project.
