Shopping for Ganeshotsav decoration materials has intensified across Vasai-Virar, with buyers gathering at markets and temporary stalls in the final days before the festival. Sellers said foldable makhars, plastic flower chandeliers and decorative garlands are among the products attracting the strongest demand.
Markets near Virar railway station, Nalasopara, Parnaka in Vasai and Ambadi Road have seen stalls set up by local traders and sellers from nearby cities. Shops and small temporary outlets across the city are displaying a wide range of materials for home and community Ganeshotsav decorations.
The products available include artificial flowers, leaves, creepers, flower garlands and torans made from plastic. LED curtains, sensor-operated lighting systems, artificial flower arches, pearl garlands, rotating lights and decorative backdrops are also being displayed for buyers.
According to the report, prices of several decoration items have increased by about 15 to 20 percent ahead of the festival. The increase has been reported at a time when buyers are making their purchases only a few days before Ganeshotsav, contributing to heavier evening footfall in the markets.
Sellers said demand has been particularly strong for foldable makhars, which can be stored and reused, as well as for LED-based decoration products. Plastic flower arrangements, garlands and other ready-to-use items are also drawing buyers looking for quick decoration options.
Although decoration materials are available online, vendors said many residents continue to prefer purchasing them in person. Anil Jadhav, a seller quoted in the report, said customers were giving priority to physical shopping despite the availability of online options.
The concentration of stalls around railway stations and established market areas has made the products accessible to residents from different parts of Vasai-Virar as well as shoppers from nearby areas. Evening crowds have increased as the festival approaches and residents complete their decoration purchases.
The current market activity reflects the seasonal expansion of retail sales around Ganeshotsav, with sellers offering a combination of traditional decorative items and newer lighting and display products. Purchases are continuing in the remaining days before the festival, according to the report.
