The Titwala block announced by Central Railway will cancel 23 suburban train services and suspend local train operations between Titwala and Kasara during the night of September 9-10, as work continues to extend the platform at Titwala station for 15-coach local trains.
The special traffic and power block will be in force from 11.30 pm on September 9 to 5.10 am on September 10. The block is the 13th day of a 15-day programme being carried out between August 28 and September 11, according to a report by Loksatta – Mumbai.
During the block, all local trains that normally terminate at Titwala will be extended to Asangaon. Services that usually originate from Titwala will instead begin from Asangaon. Train operations between Titwala and Kasara will remain fully suspended during the block period.
Central Railway has cancelled 12 down-direction and 11 up-direction local services, taking the total number of cancellations to 23. Some other services will operate only up to Thane or Kalyan, resulting in changes for passengers travelling on the Kalyan-Kasara section.
The disruption will also affect the air-conditioned Titwala local, whose journey will be restricted to Thane during the block. The changes are linked to the platform expansion work at Titwala station, which is being undertaken to accommodate 15-coach suburban trains.
The work forms part of a wider operational change at the station, where the existing platform is being extended while regular suburban services continue to operate outside the designated block hours. The nightly blocks are scheduled to continue until September 11, with the reported operating window running for approximately five to six hours each night.
Passengers using the Kasara route will therefore need to account for the revised short-termination and origin points at Asangaon, as well as the cancellations and services ending at Thane or Kalyan. Central Railway’s next scheduled block is part of the programme running through September 11.
