Thane | September 9, 2026 — Padgha Primary Health Centre in Bhiwandi taluka has secured state-level National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) recognition after scoring 90.97% in a detailed assessment, marking a significant quality benchmark for rural healthcare services in the district. The centre also received a patient-satisfaction score of 4.7 out of 5.
The recognition follows efforts by the Thane district health department to improve the quality of healthcare available to residents in rural areas. The assessment examined the functioning of the primary health centre across clinical services, support systems, patient safety and service management.
The evaluation covered outpatient and inpatient services, the laboratory, delivery room, medicine stocks and availability, cleanliness, infection prevention and control, biomedical waste management, patient safety, records and documentation, available manpower and the implementation of patient rights. The assessment also reviewed the systems used by the centre to manage and monitor healthcare delivery.
As part of the process, evaluators physically inspected the centre’s services and facilities. Health workers were asked about service procedures, while relevant records and documents were checked. Patients were also consulted about their experience and satisfaction with the services provided at the facility.
NQAS assessment of a healthcare centre includes multiple service-quality parameters. These cover the availability of facilities, patient rights, medical care, infection control, medicines, cleanliness, patient safety, record management, quality management and patient satisfaction. The broad scope of the review means that recognition is not based only on clinical treatment, but also on how consistently the centre manages essential public health functions.
For residents of Bhiwandi taluka’s rural areas, the result provides an official quality benchmark for a facility that serves as a local point of access for primary healthcare. The patient-satisfaction score forms one part of the assessment and indicates that users’ experience was included alongside infrastructure, staffing, documentation and service-delivery checks.
The Padgha centre’s performance also places operational systems at the centre of rural health quality monitoring. Medicine availability, infection control, biomedical waste handling, accurate records and patient safety are routine functions, but failures in any of these areas can affect the reliability and safety of public healthcare. Their inclusion in the assessment provides a wider measure of the centre’s functioning than patient numbers alone.
The state-level recognition is the latest outcome reported in the district health department’s efforts to improve rural health services. The assessment process has now recorded Padgha Primary Health Centre’s score, patient-satisfaction rating and performance across the specified quality parameters.
