Western Railway Upgrades Garib Rath Express with LHB Rakes
Western Railway has upgraded the Bandra Terminus–Hazrat Nizamuddin Garib Rath Express, introducing the modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) rakes to replace its traditional coaches. This transformation aims to offer passengers an enhanced, safer, and more comfortable travel experience, reflecting the railway’s commitment to modernisation and passenger satisfaction.
Train No. 12909/12910, previously running with conventional coaches, now features 19 AC 3-Tier Economy coaches with state-of-the-art LHB technology. The new rakes are equipped with key safety features, including anti-climbing couplers, advanced braking systems, and fire-retardant materials, ensuring higher safety standards throughout the journey. Beyond safety, the LHB rakes focus on passenger comfort. The new design boasts more spacious seating arrangements, eliminating side middle berths for a more open feel. The berths themselves are more comfortable, and the train includes larger, well-maintained toilets, significantly enhancing the overall travel experience.
The LHB rakes are also engineered to operate at speeds up to 160 km/h, reducing travel time and making the journey more efficient. The shift to these modern coaches aligns with Western Railway’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality of service and increase safety across the network. As passengers board the upgraded Garib Rath Express, they can look forward to a smoother, faster, and more enjoyable ride between Bandra and Hazrat Nizamuddin, elevating the standards of rail travel.
