Pune residents are bracing themselves for scheduled water cuts on Thursday as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) gears up for essential repairs and maintenance activities across various pumping stations.
The maintenance works, spanning multiple areas of the city, are slated to commence early on Thursday and are expected to conclude by Friday morning, with normal water supply set to resume thereafter. The PMC has identified several pumping stations, including SNDT, Vadgaon, Bhama Askhed, Pune Cantonment, Warje, and Holkar, for maintenance, necessitating temporary disruptions in water supply. Neighborhoods such as Warje, Kothrud, parts of Shivajinagar including S B Road, Prabhat Road, Bhandarkar Road, Bavdhan, parts of Pashan, Baner, and Balewadi are likely to experience water scarcity during this period. However, the Parvati water works will continue operations to ensure uninterrupted water supply to Peth areas, pockets along Satara Road, and Shivajinagar. The PMC has assured residents that the planned maintenance works are crucial for ensuring the efficient functioning of water supply units and minimizing future disruptions.
The proactive approach by the civic authorities highlights their commitment to infrastructure upkeep and service reliability. By conducting timely maintenance activities, the PMC aims to enhance the resilience of Pune’s water supply network and mitigate potential challenges arising from infrastructure deterioration. While the temporary inconvenience of water cuts may inconvenience residents, the long-term benefits of a well-maintained water supply system are significant. Residents are encouraged to cooperate with the PMC during this period and utilize alternative water sources such as tanker services in affected areas. Through collective effort and effective management, Pune can ensure a sustainable and reliable water supply for its growing population.
