Vishwa Umiya Dham has announced plans to build a 500-plus-bed multispeciality hospital at its temple complex near Ahmedabad, alongside hostels for 2,000 students and a skill university. The hospital project is expected to involve an investment of ₹700 crore, according to the Vishwa Umiya Foundation.
The announcement was made at a meeting of more than 80 Patidar organisations and community representatives from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. R. P. Patel, president of the Vishwa Umiya Foundation, said the institution had decided to develop a hospital and hostel in addition to the temple at Jaspur, where the Vishwa Umiya Dham complex is located.
The foundation has not provided a construction start date, completion timeline, land-use details, funding structure or information on the approvals required for the proposed hospital. The number of departments, planned medical services and operating model for the facility were also not specified in the announcement.
The proposed hospital was announced alongside an international blood donation campaign organised by the foundation’s youth organisation. The campaign was conducted at 151 locations across seven countries, including India and the United States, with a target of collecting more than 25,000 units of blood. The foundation said it had achieved a record recognised by the Golden Book of World Records.
The campaign was held on the occasion of the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The announcement links the blood donation effort to the foundation’s wider institutional plans, which include healthcare, student accommodation and skills education within the Vishwa Umiya Dham campus.
The proposed hostel is intended to accommodate 2,000 boys and girls. The foundation also said a skill university would be developed along with the hostel, but it did not disclose the university’s proposed courses, accreditation status, campus area or implementation schedule.
A hospital of the scale announced would become a significant healthcare institution for the surrounding area if implemented. However, the source material does not establish whether the facility will provide subsidised treatment, serve as a teaching hospital, or operate through a public-private or charitable model. It also does not clarify how the hospital would be integrated with existing healthcare services in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
The foundation’s announcement is therefore an early project declaration rather than a confirmed construction milestone. Further details on statutory permissions, architectural plans, financing, tendering and a construction schedule will be required to assess when the proposed facilities can become operational. The next stated step is the development of the hospital, hostel and skill university within the Vishwa Umiya Dham complex.
