Vande Bharat Network Expands in Central India

The Khajuraho-Hazrat Nizamuddin Vande Bharat Express will now include a stop at Datia station, effective today, May 13th.

This addition to the route of one of India’s premier high-speed trains underscores Indian Railways’ commitment to extending the benefits of modern rail travel to a wider populace. With 136 Vande Bharat services already operational across the nation, connecting over 280 cities across more than 50 routes, the inclusion of Datia reflects the growing popularity and strategic expansion of this flagship train service. The decision to incorporate a stoppage at Datia railway station for the Khajuraho-Hazrat Nizamuddin-Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express (train numbers 22469/22470) has been implemented on an experimental basis, according to an official release from Indian Railways. This adjustment in the schedule is a direct response to the increasing demand for efficient and comfortable travel options in the region. The revised timings will see train number 22469 (Khajuraho to Nizamuddin) halt at Gwalior station between 19:28 and 19:33, and at Datia station from 18:42 to 18:44. For the return journey, train number 22470 (Nizamuddin to Khajuraho) will stop at Datia station between 09:59 and 10:01, and the stoppage time at Veerangana Laxmibai Jhansi station has been revised to 10:30-10:35.

The introduction of this new stoppage has also necessitated a minor adjustment in the schedule of another train, the Agra Cantt – Veerangana Laxmibai Jhansi Express (train number 11902), which will now have a revised stoppage time at Karari station from 10:13 to 10:14. These fine-tuned adjustments across multiple train schedules demonstrate the intricate planning involved in optimising railway operations to accommodate new connectivity points while minimising disruption to existing services. The Vande Bharat Express has rapidly gained popularity among passengers due to its advanced features, prioritising speed, safety, and comfort. Each train boasts automatic doors, a GPS-based passenger information system, onboard Wi-Fi connectivity, and ergonomically designed seating. The executive coaches offer the added convenience of 180-degree rotating seats. Furthermore, every coach is equipped with a pantry for serving hot meals and cold beverages, and the bio-vacuum toilet systems underscore a commitment to hygiene and environmental consciousness. With a trial speed reaching 183 km/h and a normal maximum operational speed of 160 km/h, the Vande Bharat Express is engineered for efficiency. Notably, its regenerative braking system contributes to a reduced carbon footprint by saving approximately 30 percent of electrical energy. The soundproofed coaches further enhance the passenger experience by minimising external noise intrusion.

The expansion of the Vande Bharat network, now spanning over 50 routes and connecting more than 280 cities, signifies a significant step towards modernising India’s railway infrastructure and providing citizens with world-class travel experiences. The inclusion of Datia on the Khajuraho-Hazrat Nizamuddin route is a testament to Indian Railways’ responsiveness to passenger needs and its dedication to fostering regional development through enhanced connectivity. As the Vande Bharat Express continues to extend its reach across the country, it not only facilitates faster and more comfortable journeys but also contributes to economic growth and social integration by linking key urban and regional centres. The experimental stoppage at Datia will be closely monitored, and its success could pave the way for further expansion of the Vande Bharat network to other deserving locations, bringing the benefits of high-speed rail to an even wider spectrum of the Indian populace.
