The Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 22469/22470), running between Khajuraho and Hazrat Nizamuddin, now halts at Datia railway station in Madhya Pradesh, following sustained efforts by Bhind–Datia MP Sandhya Rai.
The new stop, approved by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, was officially flagged off on Tuesday by the MP. According to Railway PRO Manoj Kumar Singh, the halt is part of a trial implementation and became effective from May 13, 2025. The move aims to enhance regional connectivity and has been welcomed by local commuters and officials. As per the revised timetable, Train 22469 from Khajuraho to Hazrat Nizamuddin now stops at Datia from 6:42 PM to 6:44 PM, and then proceeds to Gwalior. On the return journey, Train 22470 halts at Datia from 9:59 AM to 10:01 AM, before heading to Jhansi.
Additionally, Train 11902 Agra Cantt–Jhansi Express will now halt at Karari station from 10:13 AM to 10:14 AM, reflecting minor adjustments made to accommodate the new Vande Bharat stop. The Datia halt is a response to public demand and reflects the proactive role of MP Sandhya Rai in pushing for enhanced railway services in the region. Railway officials have urged passengers to utilise the new service and provide feedback during the trial phase.
The halt is expected to serve thousands of residents and travellers from Datia and surrounding areas, marking a significant improvement in regional accessibility via India’s flagship semi-high-speed train.
