Uppal T20 Match Triggers Major Hyderabad Traffic and Security Plan

Hyderabad police will deploy around 2,200 personnel, 408 CCTV cameras and two drones for the India-West Indies fourth T20 international at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal on Wednesday, with nearly 40,000 spectators expected to attend.

The match is scheduled to begin at 7 pm, Malkajgiri commissioner B. Sumathi said. Security arrangements will cover stadium entry and exit gates, player areas, dugouts and restricted zones. Four police watch teams in plain clothes will conduct surveillance inside the stadium, while the CCTV network and drones will be used for security monitoring, crowd management and traffic regulation.

Traffic police have identified parking capacity for approximately 8,000 vehicles, including 4,600 four-wheelers and 3,400 two-wheelers. Parking inside the stadium will be restricted to VVIPs, VIPs and authorised pass holders. Authorised parking entry points include the LG Godown and EK Minar check posts.

Spectators travelling by private vehicles will be directed to designated parking areas outside the stadium, including Jain Properties, Modern Bakery and Agarwal Properties on Uppal-Ramanthapur Road, and TG IALA on Uppal-Habsiguda Road. Additional areas have been identified near NGRI Metro-Stadium Metro, Genpact T-Junction-Hindu Office, DSL Mall-Street No. 8 in Ramanthapur and the LG Godown-Chemveda Junction on IDA Uppal Lane. Police said these arrangements remain subject to authorisation and motorists should follow signboards and instructions at the venue.

Routes have also been identified for spectators arriving from different parts of the city. Those travelling from Tarnaka and Secunderabad have been advised to use Habsiguda, Survey of India, Uppal Junction and the Rajyalaxmi U-turn. Spectators from Amberpet and Ramanthapur will be directed through Ramanthapur, LG Godown and the DSL Mall U-turn, while those arriving from LB Nagar and Nagole will use Nagole and Uppal Junction before proceeding to designated parking areas.

Heavy vehicles will face diversions at Nagole U-turn near Pillar No. 814, Mehfil Junction, Habsiguda Junction and Street No. 8 in Ramanthapur. Alternate routes will include Bhagayath, Nallacheruvukatta, Chengicherla, Mallapur, Nacharam, Habsiguda and Tarnaka, depending on the location. Motorists heading towards Moosarambagh, Dilsukhnagar and LB Nagar have been asked to follow directions issued by traffic police.

Five She Teams will be deployed at strategic locations to prevent harassment and support women’s safety. Special teams will also monitor suspected drug-related activity. Police said traffic at key junctions may be regulated or stopped during emergencies to facilitate the movement of ambulances and other emergency vehicles.

The police have approached Telangana State Road Transport Corporation and Metro Rail authorities to consider extended operating hours and additional services for spectators, subject to operational feasibility. Nagole Metro Station authorities have also been asked to consider extended timings. Airtel, Jio and Vodafone Idea have been requested to enhance network capacity wherever required.

Spectators have been advised to reach the stadium early, use public transport where possible, purchase tickets only through authorised sources and follow official announcements on bus services, metro timings, parking and traffic diversions.
