Titwala local trains will be affected overnight on September 9 as Central Railway carries out a special traffic and power block at Titwala station for platform-extension work. The block will run from 11.30 pm to 5.10 am, with suburban services between Titwala and Kasara suspended during the work.
Central Railway has cancelled 23 local services for the block, including 12 trains on the down line and 11 on the up line. Some other services will operate only up to Thane or Kalyan, according to details reported by Loksatta – Mumbai.
The work is part of a 15-day programme to extend the Titwala platform for the operation of 15-car suburban trains. The night block on September 9 is the 13th day of the special block period, which began on August 28 and is scheduled to continue until September 11.
During the block, trains that normally terminate at Titwala will be extended to Asangaon. Services that usually originate at Titwala will instead start from Asangaon. The arrangement is intended to maintain train operations on the wider route while work continues at Titwala station.
The Titwala-Kasara section will remain without suburban service during the block hours. Passengers travelling through the affected section will therefore need to account for the revised terminations and origins, particularly those using late-night or early-morning services.
The changes will also affect the air-conditioned Titwala local, whose journey will be restricted to Thane during the block. Central Railway has not indicated any change to the scheduled completion date of the platform-extension programme, which is set to run through September 11.
