Thiruvananthapuram Traffic Restrictions Tighten for Arattu Procession

Thiruvananthapuram traffic restrictions will be in force from 3pm to 10pm on Tuesday as the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple’s Arattu procession moves through several city roads, with diversions, parking restrictions and special route advice for airport passengers.

The restrictions will cover the road from Vazhapalli Junction to Mithranandapuram and Fort School, as well as the stretch from West Nada through Enchakkal, Vallakkadavu and Arattu Gate. Parking will not be allowed on either side of these roads during the regulated period.

Vehicles parked in violation of the restrictions will be removed using recovery vehicles, according to the traffic arrangements reported by the Times News Network. Legal action will also be initiated against the owners of vehicles found parked in the restricted stretches.

Traffic on the Kazhakkoottam-Kovalam bypass is expected to be disrupted at Enchakkal Junction when the procession travels towards Shankhumukham Arattu Kadavu and again when it returns. The disruption is linked to the movement of the procession through the junction and adjoining routes.

From 3pm, vehicles will be diverted through Vazhapalli Junction, West Fort, Sreekanteswaram Park, Padmavilasam Road and Kothalam Junction. Commuters using roads connected to the procession route have been advised to account for the restrictions and use the designated diversion where applicable.

Passengers travelling to the domestic airport from Shankhumukham have been advised to use the route via Kallummoodu, Ponnara and Valiyathura. The advice is intended to provide an alternative connection while traffic movement is affected around Enchakkal, Vallakkadavu and the Shankhumukham-bound stretch.

The traffic arrangements place particular importance on keeping the procession route clear. The combination of a no-parking order, vehicle removals and diversions is designed to manage road space while the procession moves between the temple area and the Arattu Kadavu.

Residents and visitors seeking details about the traffic regulations can contact the authorities on 0471-2558731 or 9497990005. The restrictions will remain in force until 10pm on Tuesday, according to the reported traffic plan.
