The Telangana EAGLE Force has frozen properties and movable assets estimated at Rs 6.55 crore in a cocaine and MDMA trafficking case in Hyderabad, following a financial investigation into the accused, their associates and relatives.
The action was taken by the Cyberabad Narcotics Police Station, which operates under the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement, or EAGLE. Officials acted under Section 68(F) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act after the asset freeze received formal confirmation from the competent authority in Chennai.
The underlying case was registered under the NDPS Act in 2025. During the investigation, authorities seized 16.50 grams of cocaine and 52.29 grams of MDMA, along with eight mobile phones, three laptops, two pen drives and Rs 45,000 in cash.
The subsequent financial probe focused on tracing the asset trails linked to the accused, their associates and relatives. According to the details reported by Telangana Today, officials identified movable assets worth Rs 55.36 lakh and immovable properties valued at Rs 2.96 crore based on government rates. The combined estimated market value of the assets covered by the action was reported at Rs 6.55 crore.
An asset freeze under Section 68(F) restricts the transfer, sale or disposal of property suspected to be connected with proceeds of illicit activity. The provision allows authorities to preserve assets while proceedings under the NDPS Act continue.
The action places the financial investigation alongside the narcotics case, moving beyond the seizure of drugs and immediate contraband. By examining properties, cash and other movable assets, investigators are seeking to identify and restrict the financial networks associated with the alleged trafficking operation.
The case also highlights the role of specialised narcotics units in combining criminal investigation with financial tracing. The EAGLE Force was established to strengthen enforcement against drug trafficking in Telangana, while the Cyberabad unit handles cases in the wider metropolitan area surrounding Hyderabad.
The latest action does not, by itself, determine the final outcome of the criminal case or establish ownership of the frozen assets beyond the ongoing legal proceedings. The asset freeze follows the competent authority’s confirmation, while further action will proceed under the applicable provisions of the NDPS Act.
