Telangana has set up an automotive and electric vehicle (EV) executive council to coordinate investment plans, expansion strategies and sector-specific policy requirements ahead of the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026. The council’s first meeting will be held at the state secretariat on November 11 under the chairmanship of transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
Around 25 representatives from leading automotive and EV companies, along with other stakeholders, have agreed to join the council, according to the report. The new platform is intended to bring industry representatives and policymakers together as Telangana seeks to strengthen its position as a destination for automotive and EV manufacturing.
The first meeting will review the investment plans and ongoing projects of companies operating in the automotive and EV sectors. It will also examine proposed investments and expansion strategies, giving the state government a consolidated platform to understand the sector’s requirements and planned growth.
Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the government would seek suggestions from industry representatives on policy measures, infrastructure requirements and other issues connected with industrial development. These discussions are expected to focus on the conditions companies require to establish, expand or operate automotive and EV facilities in Telangana.
The council will also encourage leading companies to participate in the investment expo being organised as part of the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026. The summit is scheduled to take place from December 7 to 9 at Bharat Future City. The council is expected to finalise themes for dedicated automotive and EV discussion forums during the summit.
The initiative creates a formal channel for coordination between the state government and companies at a time when Telangana is seeking to attract investments across automotive manufacturing and electric mobility. Its focus extends beyond investment announcements to ongoing projects, expansion plans, infrastructure needs and policy feedback, all of which can influence how quickly industrial proposals move from discussion to implementation.
Officials said the council is aimed at strengthening coordination with industry stakeholders and creating a favourable ecosystem for investments in the sector. The inaugural meeting is expected to identify investment opportunities and prepare a roadmap for the growth of the automotive and EV industries in Telangana.
The immediate milestones are the council’s November 11 meeting and the automotive and EV investment forums planned during the December 7-9 Global Summit 2026. The government is expected to use the council’s discussions to shape its engagement with companies and sector-specific priorities ahead of the summit.
