South Central Railway has cancelled 12 train services on Tuesday as Cyclone Arnab approaches, citing passenger safety and affecting routes connecting Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Lingampalli, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Sambalpur and other destinations.
The cancellations were announced in view of the imminent cyclone. The affected services include several long-distance trains originating from or passing through key stations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, as well as services connecting the region with Odisha and Maharashtra.
The cancelled trains are 12704 Secunderabad–Howrah, 17016 Secunderabad–Bhubaneswar New, 12728 Hyderabad–Visakhapatnam, 12862 Mahbubnagar–Visakhapatnam, 12740 Secunderabad–Visakhapatnam, 12776 Lingampalli–Kakinada Town, 17256 Lingampalli–Narasapur, 12738 Lingampalli–Kakinada Port, 20810 Hazur Sahib Nanded–Sambalpur, 07037 Charlapalli–Srikakulam Road and 07038 Srikakulam Road–Charlapalli.
Train 12788, operating from Nagarsol to Narasapur, has been partially cancelled. The South Central Railway did not provide further operational details in the announcement on the extent of the partial cancellation.
The cancellations cover passenger services on routes that link major urban centres, regional stations and coastal destinations. The affected network includes Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Lingampalli and Charlapalli, along with destinations such as Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Narasapur and Srikakulam Road.
Cyclone-related railway restrictions are intended to reduce risks to passengers and train operations during severe weather conditions. In this case, the railway’s stated reason for the cancellations is the imminent cyclone and the interest of passenger safety.
The announcement does not specify the expected duration of the cancellations, whether replacement services will operate or when the affected trains will resume. It also does not provide details about refunds, rescheduling or revised timings for passengers holding tickets on the cancelled services.
The South Central Railway’s latest cancellation list covers both fully cancelled services and the partially cancelled Nagarsol–Narasapur train. Passengers travelling on the listed routes will need to check further railway updates for operational details and subsequent changes linked to Cyclone Arnab.
