New York City has welcomed a groundbreaking advancement in construction technology as a new building off Columbus Circle becomes the first project in the city to implement artificial intelligence (AI) construction technology.
This innovative approach aims to significantly enhance efficiency in terms of costs, labour, management time and resources. Developed by Global Holdings Management Group, the 26-storey high-rise residential tower at 1841 Broadway, southwest of Central Park, uses the AI construction platform Buildots.
Buildots, known for its AI construction technology, is already in use on construction sites across North America, the UK, Europe and the Middle East. Aviv Leibovici, CPO and Co-Founder of Buildots, highlighted the manual nature of the construction industry compared to highly automated sectors like car manufacturing. With numerous personnel from different businesses working on a construction site, tracking and understanding the progress of various tasks becomes challenging.
The implementation of Buildots’ AI technology addresses these challenges and provides project managers with valuable insights. By utilising helmet-mounted 360-degree cameras, the Buildots AI platform captures comprehensive site data. This data is then automatically analysed using proprietary AI algorithms, offering project management teams accurate progress reports and visual construction process analysis.
Leibovici emphasised that Buildots’ AI technology serves as a source of inspiration for project managers worldwide. By accessing the system, managers can quickly grasp the project’s status, identify gaps and evaluate the pace of construction. This allows them to make informed decisions and prioritise necessary changes rather than spending valuable time quantifying various aspects of the project.
Also, managers must carefully choose how they represent the project to the AI system. Each activity must be properly defined and tracked within the software, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the project’s scope.
By harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, construction projects can benefit from streamlined management and improved decision-making. With AI construction technology paving the way for a more intelligent construction industry, the future holds exciting possibilities for enhancing productivity and delivering exceptional projects.
