Ramlila Maidan Rally Readied as Rainwater and Crowd Plans Intensify

Preparations for the INDIA alliance rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan have entered their final stage, with organisers pumping out rainwater, installing barricades and arranging transport for workers travelling from several states ahead of Sunday’s gathering.

Rainfall left water accumulated in parts of the ground, prompting the use of motors to drain the site. Congress workers were also involved in clearing the water as the venue was prepared for a large public gathering. Barricading has been completed in different sections of the ground, while work on the stage and pandal is continuing.

Chairs are being arranged inside the pandal, and lighting and public-address equipment are being checked to reduce the risk of technical disruptions during the rally. The preparations reflect the logistical demands of hosting a major event at one of central Delhi’s established public gathering spaces, where weather, crowd movement and access arrangements must be managed together.

Congress leaders have claimed that around 10 lakh people could attend the rally. The report does not provide an independently verified attendance estimate. Organisers are making arrangements to bring supporters to Delhi by buses, cars, trains and metro services, with workers from multiple states already arriving in the capital.

The states mentioned in the preparations include Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. The movement of such a large number of people is being coordinated through state-level transport arrangements, according to Congress leaders. The expected attendance, however, remains an organisational claim rather than a confirmed final count.

Raj Kishore Prasad, who travelled from Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, said around 200 cars and more than 150 buses were bringing people from his area to Delhi. Sahdev, who arrived from Raipur in Chhattisgarh, said approximately 150 buses were carrying workers from his region.

The preparations also highlight the dependence of large public events on Delhi’s wider transport network. The report says attendees are reaching the city by road and rail as well as by metro, but it does not specify special services, traffic diversions or separate crowd-management measures for the rally. Details of any official traffic or security plan were not provided in the supplied report.

At the venue, organisers are continuing work on the stage, seating, sound systems and lighting before the rally. The immediate operational priority is to make the waterlogged ground usable and complete the physical arrangements before participants arrive in greater numbers.

The rally is scheduled to take place on Sunday at Ramlila Maidan. Preparations at the venue and the arrival of workers from different states are expected to continue until the event begins.
