Pune railway mega block operations between Hadapsar and Ghorpade will continue until October 4, disrupting routes, halts and departure timings for several trains across the Pune division. The block began on September 19 for pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking work linked to commissioning a third railway line between the two locations.
Central Railway’s Pune division has announced changes to the operation of multiple long-distance and special trains during the 15-day infrastructure block. Some services will run through alternate routes, while others will be partially cancelled, terminated at different stations or operated with revised departure times. The railway has advised passengers to check the latest status of their train before beginning their journey.
The notification states that the dates mentioned for the affected services refer to their dates of origin. The Pune-Howrah Express, train number 12221, will operate through Lonavala, Karjat, Panvel, Kalyan, Igatpuri and Manmad on September 19 and October 3. Its return service, train number 12222, will follow the same broad route on October 3. Both services will lose their scheduled halts on the Daund chord line.
The Jammu Tawi-Pune Express, train number 11078, will reach Pune through Manmad, Igatpuri, Kalyan, Panvel, Karjat and Lonavala on September 21. Its scheduled halts at Kopargaon, Belapur, Ahilyanagar, the Daund chord line and Uruli will be cancelled. The Bengaluru-Mumbai Express will run through Solapur, Kurduwadi, Miraj, Satara and Pune on September 22, without halts at Daund and Uruli.
The Mumbai-Chennai Express will operate through Kalyan, Igatpuri, Manmad and Daund from September 19 to 23 and on October 4. Its scheduled halts at Karjat, Lonavala, Khadki, Pune and Daund will be cancelled. Other services affected on specified dates include the Nizamuddin-Vasco, Pune-Jammu Tawi, Mumbai-Bhubaneswar, Pune-Nagpur, Pune-Banaras, Nagarcoil-LTT and Chennai-LTT Express trains.
The block will also alter services on the Satara-Dadar route. Train number 11028 will leave Satara at 10.30 pm on October 3 instead of its scheduled departure at 3.30 pm, a delay of seven hours. Several halts, including Koregaon, Masur, Karad, Sangli, Miraj, Pandharpur, Daund, Kedgaon and Uruli, will be cancelled.
The Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi-Hadapsar TOD Special will operate only up to Daund on September 23 and 30. Its return service will start from Daund instead of Hadapsar on September 24 and October 1. The Pune-Danapur Amrit Bharat Express will also leave later than scheduled on September 19 and October 3, while the Pune-Danapur TOD Special will have revised departure times on several dates, including a departure at 11.20 pm on September 20 and October 4.
Railway authorities have said that some trains may be regulated as operational requirements arise during the block. The work is being undertaken to commission the third line and support safer, faster and more efficient future rail operations in the Pune division. Passengers have been asked to verify the current running status and revised timetable of their train before travelling.
