The Pune mega block for commissioning a third railway line between Hadapsar and Ghorpadi has triggered widespread changes to train services, including cancellations of scheduled halts, route diversions, partial cancellations and revised departure times from September 19 to October 4.
Central Railway’s Pune division is carrying out extensive pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking work in the Pune and Hadapsar yards during the 15-day block. The changes affect several long-distance and special trains, with passengers advised to check the latest status and revised timetable before beginning their journey.
The railway notification states that the dates mentioned in the revised schedule refer to the date on which the journey begins. Some trains will bypass Pune or terminate and originate from alternative stations such as Khadki, Daund, Kurduwadi, Jejuri and other locations, depending on the date and service.
The Pune-Howrah Express, train number 12221, will operate through Lonavala, Karjat, Panvel, Kalyan, Igatpuri and Manmad on September 19 and October 3. Its return service, train number 12222, will follow the reverse route on October 3. Both services will not stop on the Daund chord line during the affected journeys.
The Jammu Tawi-Pune Express, train number 11078, will reach Pune through Manmad, Igatpuri, Kalyan, Panvel, Karjat and Lonavala on September 21. Its scheduled halts at Kopargaon, Belapur, Ahilyanagar, the Daund chord line and Uruli will be cancelled.
Several other services will also operate on altered routes. The Bengaluru-Mumbai Express will run through Solapur, Kurduwadi, Miraj, Satara and Pune on September 22, without scheduled stops at Daund and Uruli. The Mumbai-Chennai Express will be diverted through Kalyan, Igatpuri, Manmad and Daund from September 19 to 23 and on October 4, with scheduled halts at Karjat, Lonavala, Khadki, Pune and Daund cancelled.
The Nagercoil-LTT Express will bypass Pune on September 22 and October 2 while operating through Solapur, Kurduwadi, Daund, Ahilyanagar, Manmad, Nashik and Kalyan. The Chennai-LTT Express will not stop at Pune and Lonavala on October 2 and 3. The Pune-Rani Kamalapati Express will use the Lonavala, Karjat, Panvel, Kalyan, Igatpuri and Manmad route on September 20.
The Satara-Dadar Express, train number 11028, will depart from Satara at 10.30 pm instead of its scheduled 3.30 pm departure on October 3, resulting in a seven-hour delay. Its halts at several stations, including Koregaon, Karad, Sangli, Miraj, Pandharpur, Daund, Kedgaon and Uruli, will be cancelled.
The Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi-Hadapsar TOD Special will run only up to Daund on September 23 and 30. Its return service will originate from Daund instead of Hadapsar on September 24 and October 1. Other trains, including the Pune-Danapur Amrit Bharat Express and Pune-Danapur TOD Special, will also depart later than scheduled on specified dates. The Pune-Danapur TOD Special will leave at 7.45 pm instead of 3.40 pm on several dates, and at 11.20 pm on September 20 and October 4.
The railway has also said that some trains may be regulated during the block depending on operational requirements. The work is being undertaken to commission the third line between Hadapsar and Ghorpadi, which the railway says is intended to support safer, faster and more efficient train operations in the Pune division. Passengers have been asked to verify their train’s current status and revised timings before travelling.
