The latest Maharashtra Rain Alert signals heightened risks of heavy rainfall in coastal and hilly regions, prompting civic agencies to monitor drainage systems, transport infrastructure and flood-prone neighbourhoods.
According to the latest weather outlook, Mumbai, Thane and Sindhudurg remain under a yellow alert, indicating the likelihood of moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by localised disruptions. Raigad and Ratnagiri have been placed under an orange alert, reflecting the possibility of heavier precipitation capable of affecting transport, low-lying settlements and essential public services. Forecasts also indicate continued rainfall across the Konkan belt through the current weather cycle. The Maharashtra Rain Alert extends beyond the coast, with weather authorities forecasting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms across Pune, Nashik and parts of western Maharashtra. The Ghat sections of Pune and Satara have been categorised under orange alerts due to the potential for heavy to very heavy rain, conditions that often increase the risk of landslides, waterlogging and temporary road closures along mountain corridors.
Elsewhere in the state, districts including Dhule, Nandurbar and Jalgaon are expected to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms, while parts of Nashik and Ahilyanagar may witness intermittent moderate showers. Solapur and Sangli are forecast to receive lighter rainfall, whereas Satara and Kolhapur could experience more sustained monsoon activity. In the Marathwada region, weather officials have issued yellow alerts for several districts where moderate rainfall may be accompanied by gusty winds and lightning. Additional districts are expected to experience isolated thunderstorms, requiring local administrations to maintain preparedness, particularly in rural areas where weather-related disruptions can affect agriculture, transport and electricity supply. Vidarbha presents a mixed outlook. While no formal alerts have been issued for some districts, others remain under yellow warnings as intermittent rainfall continues across parts of eastern Maharashtra. Authorities are expected to monitor local conditions as the monsoon system evolves over the coming days.
