The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will begin seizure action against properties with outstanding tax dues from October 1, after issuing notices to defaulters by September 30, as it pursues a property tax recovery target of Rs 1,300 crore for the 2026-27 financial year.
The civic body is giving priority to outstanding dues from non-residential and industrial properties. Separate recovery teams have been formed for the exercise, additional municipal commissioner Trupti Sandbhor said during a review of property tax collection in the city’s 18 divisional tax collection office jurisdictions.
Property owners who pay their tax online before September 30 will be eligible for a 4% concession, according to the announcement. The corporation will prepare lists of non-residential, industrial, mixed-use and vacant properties, along with other properties that have outstanding dues, before issuing notices.
The civic administration said Rs 584.49 crore had been collected in property tax so far during the current financial year. The amount includes Rs 584 crore, Rs 49 lakh and Rs 45,228, as reported by Loksatta. The corporation has set the full-year collection target at Rs 1,300 crore.
Pimpri-Chinchwad has approximately 744,630 registered properties, including residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use properties, as well as vacant plots. The size and diversity of this tax base means that the recovery campaign will cover both occupied premises and land parcels recorded in the municipal system.
Sandbhor directed officials to separately record properties where bills had been issued but payment had not been made. Officials have also been asked to contact the relevant property owners and provide guidance on completing payment. The corporation said the recovery process would be based on updated information about the type of property, the amount outstanding and whether a bill had been served.
Deputy municipal commissioner Sachin Pawar said divisional offices had prepared detailed recovery plans. These plans will track the dues associated with different categories of properties and the properties where payments remain pending after bills were issued.
The corporation’s announcement places municipal property tax collection at the centre of its revenue planning for the year. The immediate milestones are the September 30 deadline for notices and concession-linked online payments, followed by the start of seizure action against properties with outstanding dues on October 1.
