Pandharpur Land Acquisition Office Opens for Corridor-Affected Owners

A temporary Pandharpur land acquisition office will begin handling claims and objections from property owners affected by the Solapur corridor project, allowing them to complete the process locally instead of travelling to Solapur. The office will operate from the Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Temple Committee’s Bhakt Nivas on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays every week.

The arrangement has been introduced by Land Acquisition Officer No. 3 to reduce inconvenience for affected property owners as the state government’s land acquisition process for the corridor project gathers pace. Notices are currently being issued to property holders whose land or assets are covered by the acquisition process.

Solapur District Collector S. Karthikeyan said the temporary office in Pandharpur would ensure that affected owners do not have to visit Solapur for every matter connected with their cases. The office will provide a local point for submissions and representations during the period in which landowners are required to respond to acquisition notices.

Property owners must submit their objections or representations within 30 days of receiving a notice. They may appear before the Pandharpur office personally, through an authorised representative or through a lawyer, according to information issued by the district administration.

The submissions are expected to include details of the affected land, including its area and particulars; information about structures on the property; the use of the property; the nature of the claimant’s interest; the amount of compensation being sought; supporting evidence for the claim; and information about ownership shares or other entitlements.

The 30-day response period is significant because objections and claims submitted after the prescribed deadline may not be considered within the same stage of the acquisition process. The administration has therefore asked affected owners to record any concerns relating to their land or property at the Pandharpur office within the specified period.

The temporary facility places the administrative interface closer to the people whose land is being acquired. While the office is scheduled to function for three days a week, the announcement does not specify how long the arrangement will continue or whether additional facilities will be provided for owners who require assistance with documentation.

The move also highlights the practical burden created by land acquisition procedures, which can require affected owners to submit technical property details, establish their legal or ownership interests and document compensation claims. For owners in and around Pandharpur, the local office is intended to make that process more accessible while notices for the corridor project are being served.

The district administration’s immediate next step is for affected property owners to submit their representations, objections and supporting documents at the Bhakt Nivas office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays within 30 days of receiving their notices.
