Chennai suburban train passengers will get extended services to Tiruvallur, Kadambattur and Sullurupeta, along with a new midday train from Tiruvallur to Moore Market Complex, when Southern Railway’s revised timetable takes effect from November 1.
The revised Chennai suburban train timetable will apply to Sunday services from November 1 and to weekday services from November 2. It includes new timings, additional stoppages, changes to fast and slow local services, and extensions on the Chennai Central–Arakkonam, Chennai Central–Sullurupeta and Chennai Beach–Chengalpet sections.
On the Chennai Central–Arakkonam route, Train No. 43230 will leave Tiruvallur at 12.25pm and arrive at Moore Market Complex at 1.45pm. The service adds a midday connection for passengers travelling from Tiruvallur towards central Chennai.
An existing morning train from Moore Market Complex to Pattabiram will be extended to Tiruvallur as Train No. 43209. It will leave Moore Market Complex at 7.10am and reach Tiruvallur at 8.30am. The corresponding service will depart Tiruvallur at 8.45am and arrive at Moore Market Complex at 10.20am.
Two other services will be extended to Kadambattur. Train No. 43903 will depart Moore Market Complex at 2pm and reach Kadambattur at 3.25pm. Train No. 43904 will leave Kadambattur at 3.35pm and arrive at Moore Market Complex at 5.05pm.
Southern Railway will also change the stopping pattern of two evening services to Arakkonam. The 7.30pm fast local will become a slow local and stop at all stations, while the 7.45pm slow local will be converted into a fast local.
On the Chennai Central–Sullurupeta section, a morning service will be extended beyond Gummidipundi. The train will leave Moore Market Complex at 5.20am and reach Sullurupeta at 7.55am. Its return service will depart Sullurupeta at 8.10am and arrive at Moore Market Complex at 10.40am.
Passengers using the Chennai Beach–Chengalpet section will also see an additional stoppage. Train No. 40904 from Arakkonam will stop at Guduvancheri at 9.20am. The change adds another scheduled stopping opportunity for commuters travelling through the southern suburban corridor.
The revised timetable does not change MRTS timings between Chennai Beach, Velachery and St Thomas Mount. Southern Railway has advised passengers to check updated timings and stoppages on the National Train Enquiry System app before travelling.
The timetable changes will be implemented in two stages, with Sunday services changing on November 1 and weekday services changing on November 2.
