The Noida–Greater Noida Metro corridor is set to take a significant step towards integrated urban mobility with plans to introduce the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) on the Aqua Line. The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has initiated the procurement process for the technology upgrade, aiming to provide commuters with seamless, cashless travel while aligning the corridor with India’s broader vision of interoperable public transport.
The proposed modernisation involves upgrading the Aqua Line’s automatic fare collection system to support the One Nation One Card framework. NMRC has floated a tender worth approximately ₹23 crore for the project, which will enable passengers to use a single contactless card across multiple public transport systems, reducing dependence on separate transit cards and paper tickets. The Noida Metro NCMC initiative is expected to improve convenience for thousands of daily commuters travelling between Noida and Greater Noida. Once implemented, passengers will be able to use the same card across participating metro networks, buses and other transit services, creating a more connected and efficient urban transport ecosystem.
Urban mobility experts say integrated ticketing has become an essential component of modern public transport systems. A unified payment platform reduces transaction times, simplifies transfers between different modes of transport and encourages greater adoption of public transit by making journeys more seamless.
