Noida Airport Connectivity Plans Expand With DTC Buses

Noida International Airport in Jewar is preparing to strengthen its public transport links with Delhi as authorities explore the introduction of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus services to the facility. The move comes amid efforts to improve passenger access, increase airport utilisation and create a more connected mobility network across the National Capital Region.

Since beginning commercial operations in June, the airport has focused on building a multi-city transport system connecting passengers from neighbouring states and major urban centres. However, early passenger numbers have remained below the initial projections, highlighting the importance of reliable and affordable last-mile and long-distance connectivity. The proposed DTC services could create direct links between Jewar and key transport hubs in Delhi, including major bus terminals and railway connectivity points. Officials indicate that daily services from locations such as Kashmere Gate, Anand Vihar and New Delhi railway station are being considered, subject to regulatory approvals. At present, passengers travelling to the airport have access to state-run bus networks operated by Uttar Pradesh and Haryana transport authorities.

These services connect Jewar with cities including Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Agra, Mathura, Meerut, Faridabad and Palwal. Additional routes to other regional centres are expected to be evaluated based on demand patterns. The expansion of Noida Airport connectivity is significant for the wider NCR mobility ecosystem. For an airport located away from established city centres, dependable public transport will determine whether it becomes accessible not only for business travellers but also for families, workers and passengers from smaller towns. Urban mobility experts say that integrating airport transport with existing public transit systems can reduce dependence on private vehicles and help limit congestion and emissions around major infrastructure projects. A balanced transport strategy, they note, is essential as the NCR continues to witness rapid urban expansion along new economic corridors.

The proposed DTC route faces regulatory challenges linked to interstate transport arrangements between Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan. Authorities are working on necessary approvals to enable buses to operate from Delhi towards Jewar, rather than only from Jewar towards Delhi. Beyond aviation growth, Noida Airport connectivity represents a broader test of how emerging urban infrastructure is integrated with existing cities. Efficient public transport links could influence investment decisions, employment accessibility and regional development around the Yamuna Expressway corridor. As passenger volumes evolve, transport planning will remain a key factor in shaping the airport’s role within NCR’s future mobility network.
